Arley Berryhill
Arley has been making dolls, both cloth and sculpted, for the past 12 years. With a background in art, design, theater, fashion, and costuming, he feels all his skills are being utilized in doll making.  For the past 30 years, Arley has made a living creating costumes for film, television, stage, commercials, the circus, and night clubs. His dolls have won several awards, he has a passion for beads and embellishment (his beaded pieces have been shown in Seattle’s art galleries), he has made hats and masks on a number of Broadway shows (including “The Phantom of the Opera”, puppets for the Jim Henson Muppet Shop, character costumes for Disneyland, and show-girl costumes in Las Vegas.
 

Goddess Icon Workshop # W1
Students design and make their own icon/spirit doll in class, learning embellishing techniques to bring out the “Goddess” in you. Students are given a blank icon body (already stuffed), a clay face mask, and lace to paint and embellish.  Techniques taught include painting on fabrics and lace to create a watercolor effect, metallic painting and foiling, beading, and embellishment with cording, ribbon, fibers, and other trinkets. Students will leave with a completed 9” Goddess icon. A supply list will be sent to students who sign up or you can download and print the PDF. Also, bring your lunch.

The Kit Fee is $25 payable to Arley in class. The Workshop Fee is $60.

 

 

 

 

Barbara Crawford
Barbara is owner of Crawford Designs, an established pattern company specializing in hand applique, needle felting, and country collectable dolls. Teaching applique designs and reinventing old sweatshirts into fashion wearables, along with wonderful classes on needle felting, Barbara is developing new techniques to create grander projects and has been featured in both the SQE Professional in 2006 and 2007 and Sew News magazine’s February 2007 issue and just released December 2007 issue introducing everyone to the next levels in needle felting. She also has several of her applique patterns in McCalls. Barbara has self published two books on needle felting, one on applique handbags, and countless applique patterns. She has been in business for over 16 years and is one of the leaders in the craft industry.
 

The Snow Angel Wool Duster Coat # W2
Welcome to the next level in needle felting! This duster coat is featured in Sew News magazine and was chosen because of the uniqueness in design and reaching a new level in dry needle felting. Completely changing two sweatshirts into a beautiful white duster coat with fleece lining ... You will be learning to design within a design as well and using a multi-needle tool, single needles, large foam platforms, corriedale wool, and even Angelina fibers. We will create the most beautiful coat and just in time for the coldest part of the year. Learn new techniques in needle felting from a leading expert in this field, caring for the garments and create more ideas along the way.

This workshop covers it all from start to finish, including a little fabric painting. Don’t miss this wonderful experience and the opportunity to learn how to create your own fashion line utilizing these techniques. (Original coat will be on display. Janie Lantz
Janie, representing Wallace Vacuum and Sewing Chalet, is a certified instructor for Viking Sewing Machines and specializes in 4D Embroidery software. She loves to sew, quilt, embroider, and just about everything else related to the sewing world. Janie’s experience in sewing spans 45+ years, and she has extensively taught sewing and embroidery across the United States. Students enjoy her relaxed and informative teaching style, and always come back for more classes!

4D Embroidery For Quilters # W3
A hands-on workshop for creative quilting techniques using Husqvarna Viking/Pfaff 4D Embroidery Professional or Creative 4D Suite. Topics covered are applique, openwork embroidery, redwork, quilting outlines, and making quilt labels. Question and Answer time for your own projects will be at the end of the day. Students need to bring: a laptop with their 4D Professional or Creative 4D Suite installed, their dongle, a mouse or graphics tablet, and a USB storage stick for saving designs, and your lunch. For those who don’t own 4D software, up to 10 (first come, first serve) may bring their own laptop computer and install trial software for the day.  Contact Wallace Vacuum and Sewing Center at (303) 447-9605 for more info on trying out the software at the show! Cindy Losekamp
Cindy is a fun and enlightening teacher known for her incredible amount of samples and ingenious way of creating. She has written numerous books and patterns and created many beautiful embroidery design CD’s. Her love of sewing, crocheting, embroidering, and painting is the driving force behind her company, Sew Artfully Yours. Cindy has become known for her ultra creative ideas and methods for using embroidery machines and the decorative stitches that most people never use. Cindy has been a guest on many of the popular TV shows and she has traveled extensively .. nationally as well as internationally.. teaching her methods of machine art to students of all ranges. You will enjoy learning from this exciting and empowering sewing personality.
 

Crazy Quilting To Wear! # W4
In this workshop you will create a wonderful garment you’ll find excuses to wear. Pop it on to run to the market or make it to match a special outfit. This will be one of your favorite
items to wear. You will learn how to stabilize and cut apart a sweatshirt, design your crazy patch area and then embellish using decorative stitches, pretty threads, ribbons, and yarns. We will be creating a yoke detail on a sweatshirt Cindy will provide for you. We will finish with a twin needle hem and an interesting and functional tab closure. Bring bits and pieces of your favorite stash and add them to the beautiful kit Cindy has awaiting you.
The Kit Fee is $45.00 payable to Cindy in class. The Workshop Fee is $60.

You have your choice of sweatshirt colors ... Black, Maroon, Dark Chocolate, or Deep Forest. Email Cindy at: info@sewingart.com with your selection of color and size. There will be extras should you want to purchase more. Sizes are from S to 3X. Your kit contains everything you need to finish the garment, except you need to bring: pins, needles, threads, a sewing machine, and your lunch. Linda MacPhee
Linda MacPhee, BSc. (H.Ec), Cert. Ed. is the star of her own TV series, “Linda MacPhee’s Workshop” formerly “Sew Much Fun”! It is currently showing on CLT, Knowledge Network, Access, and PBS. Linda is also a well known international speaker, designer, author, producer, and star of an acclaimed video series. A Classy Jacket # W5
Join the Queen of Jackets and create a masterpiece. Choose from our classic Swing Coat which has two long lapels (perfect for applique or felting), or our Shawl Collar Blazer, which also has perfect applique or felting possibilities (or make the matching scarf!). Both will be constructed from Wool melton (lining optional). We will use either hand or machine felting, or machine applique and stitching, or a combination of both. Both kits include wool fabric, pattern, and silk fiber for embellishment. Colors: charcoal, navy, black. Shawl Collar Kit is $54.98 and the Swing Coat Kit is $64.98 and are payable to Linda in class. Jerri McKee
Jerri is a pattern designer and teacher, known for her boutique quality jacket patterns made from Sweatshirts. She chooses to use sweatshirts so that her customers don’t have to worry about sizing.  Just use a sweatshirt that fits and change it into a wonderful work of wearable art. She has 24 years of sewing experience and loves to share her shortcuts and secrets with her students. So be prepared to take home many new ideas. Sunset Strip Sweatshirt Jacket # W6
Is this jacket really made from a sweatshirt? This is the most commonly asked question at the Moonlight Design booth. The answer is: Yes! This beautiful jacket uses the sweatshirt for the jacket base and the pattern pieces. If you have never made a jacket this is the perfect beginner class, and if you are an expert, Jerri will find something a little more challenging for you to add to your jacket. The jacket has wonderful vertical strips and will
be made in all one color way so that it will be slimming. Jerri will contact you prior to class about kits. Bring note-taking material because Jerri has a wealth of information on wearable art and proclaims to know just about every short cut around! The Kit Fee is $55 payable to Jerri in class. Dana Lea Peters
Dana, representing Artesean Gallery and Art Clay World, is a Senior Instructor with Art Clay World USA and has been working with and teaching Metal Clay around the U.S. for almost 7 years. This is a great new way to work with precious metals to create unique pieces of jewelry, buttons, sculptures, and just about anything your imagination can come up with.  You have a piece of fine silver when you are finished. Introduction To Art Clay Silver # W7
Begin the exploration of a wonderful new medium for Jewelry creation! This class touches on the forms of Silver Art Clay and its many applications while you create your own piece of pure silver jewelry. Learn how to form, fire, and finish your silver pieces, while unleashing your imagination to this wide realm of creativity. Some of the projects to explore in this workshop will be: pendants with textures and free form folding of clay with layers and cutouts. Make bails for pendants as well as creating earrings of many types. Lace work-we work with cork clay and other products to make forms for hollow beads, lacy shapes for earrings and light airy pendants. Paste type-learn the use of any organic item for use as a template design, such as leaves, twigs, feathers, and MORE!! Bring: your lunch. The Kit Fee is $45 payable to Dana in class. Sally Richards
Sally has been a pattern designer for the past 7 years for Patterncentral, designing iron-on transfers with a special ink that wears off the fabric. The patterns are used for embroidery, quilt stencils, and watercolor quilts with beading embellishments. She has taught at Paducdah, Quilt Festival, and several quilt and guild shows.

Watercolor Pencil And Beading On Quilts # W8
Learn how to use watercolor on beads on quilts. Make a watercolor wall quilt using Caran D’ache watercolor pencils and a water brush. Finish your wall hanging with beading. You will learn the differences in watercolor brands and different beading techniques that you will be able to use on other quilts. Beginner skill level. Bring: scissors, multi-colored fat quarter (small print) and your lunch. The Kit Fee is $20 payable to Sally in class. The Workshop Fee is $60.

Laurel Burch Lovers ~
   From Sweatshirt To Designer Jacket # W9

Come let us show you how to turn an ordinary sweatshirt into a one-of-a-kind designer jacket. We will show you some fun shortcuts, give you ideas on embellishments, and teach you the proper way to handle iron on swarovski crystals. Kit Fee is $35 payable to Connie in class and includes pattern, 12-15 pieces of Laurel Burch fabric, 6 yds of ribbon, 10 yds of braid, and spool of decorator thread. You add your own creativity to make this project a delight. Bring: sewing machine, scissors, black thread, black sweatshirt and 6 to 8 quarter yds (fat or otherwise doesn’t matter) of either Laurel Burch fabric or bright colorful fabric compatible with Laurel Burch colors and lunch. Workshop Fee is $60.
